Hi Alois

When I play table tennis at school and I get the chance to smash the ball it always goes off the end of the table do you have any tips for keeping it on the table or to hit the edge. I do have a decent bat and it allows me to control the ball well, just incase your wondering.

Thank you for your respons

Anthony

Hi Anthony,

Perhaps you need to hit the ball from a little higher.  See if you can take it when the ball is at shoulder or head height.  This will give you a better margin for error over the net.

Also try not to hit the ball too hard to start with.  Get a bit of control first until you feel you can consistently get the ball on the table and then speed up the smash.

Take a look at our lesson on the Forehand Smash if you haven't seen it as yet.
