Although i saw a little about when to change the rubber, I still don't understand. When i cleaned my bat(waterproof) with soap and water, it doesn't become sparkling like my friend's rubber. Im 12 years old, and started at 11 or 10, is it too late? Ty in advance!

Hi Marcus,

Different types of rubber can look different. You don't need the rubber to be sparkling to get spin from it. Just make sure that you keep the dirt and dust off it.  After each playing session just wipe your rubber with a damp wet sponge.

Starting at 10 or 11 is a great age to start Table Tennis.  Keep working hard at improving your skills and you will go a long way.

I'd recommend you put rubbing alcohol on it if you want it really shiny, that's one thing that water doesn't do too good.

I personally never use rubbing alcohol on it.

After play I mist my paddles with distilled water and wipe it dry.

During play I just use the vapor from my breath to clean it off.

Once a week I use a paddle cleaning solution.

So far my regimen has kept my rubbers in very good condition.

I use a LKT Instinct 5 ply for a blade and Dawei Inspirit 1.8mm for rubbers.
