At which point after tossing the ball should I hit it while serving to add a lot of spin?Should the contact be near my body or far?

And after mastering spin, how do we control speed and placement of the ball?

Hi Sourav,

It is better to hit the ball when it is closer to you.  You get more control of what you are doing when it is closer.

After getting a lot of spin then it is a matter of controlling the contact on the ball to get the ball to go where you want it.  A finer contact will get the ball shorter.  A slightly flatter contact will get the ball further and faster.  The angle of your racket like a rudder will control which direction the ball goes in.

It is such a fine line skill that it requires years of training to get it to a level that you can be confident.  That is why the best players still practice their serves regularly.

I guess the bottom line like anything is lots of time on the table.
