Footwork
Dear Alois and Jeff:
Kindly tell me what is the correct position to stand while receving service. Whether a player needs to stand in the middle of the table while receiving the service or slightly more towards left or right side.
Whether standing far back to receive the serve would be helpful?
With warm regads,
Ram
Hi Ram,
You should stand as a general rule in the position where your bat rests on the middle line of the table. If your opponent is standing over on the left then you need to move a little to the right and vice versa. This will put you in the best position according to the possible angles your opponent can play.
There are 3 basic areas to focus on when learning a stroke: 1) The position of your feet. 2) The starting position of your bat. 3) The finishing position of your bat. Of all these 3 elements the finish position is the most critical. Watch this video to find out why.
