Strategy change

Strategy

Hello Aloys and Jeff,

Recently I lost a game because as my opponent to changed tactic: after losing two sets he has played on me (to the middle). At the end of the match he told me what he had changed. I didn't see what. I thought that he had played with more "backspin". My attacks almost don't disturb him more.

My impression was rather this: At the beginning he served with lift or slice with backhand on my backhand. I attacked and after two or three exchanges he had lost the point. Then he served long with backspin to my backhand. I attacked with backhand topspin with not enough spin. I didn't make i mistake but  he could  even chop the ball and i continued with backspin.  The rallies have been long.

Now i'm not sure what is really happened. But : how to note a change in strategy?

Thank you in advance.

Best wishes.

Hi Christian,

I think you need to keep a little mental note of how you are winning or losing each point.  When you see a pattern emerging you need to take note of it and react.  If you are doing this you will soon notice that there is some sort of pattern with something that you can effect.
