Is it better to be consistent with shots or is it better to try and go for the power shot
Hi Kevin,
This depends on your opponent. It is playing the percentages. If you are playing someone a lot better than you and putting the ball on the table will lead to you losing for sure, then you can take a few more risks. If they are not as good then you can rely on getting the ball on the table and beating them.
A chopper likes to get back from the table and get into a nice rhythm. If you keep the defender close to the table in the early part of the rally, it's hard for them to transition back into their chopping position. So keep the ball short on your serve and try and catch them unprepared. Watch the video to find out more great tactics to use against a defensive chopper.
