Hi Jeff and Alois

When is it a good opportunity to counter a heavy forehand topspin in a rally with a return forehand topspin instead of a safe forehand block.?

Hi Ugo,

Your stroke will depend on how much time you have.  If you have more time and are in a good position then you can attempt the counter topspin.  However, if you don’t have time, the block is a good option.

It will also depend on the quality of your opposition.  If you only need to block the ball back to win the point then that is your best option even if you have more time.
