Hi Alois and Jeff,

One of my opponent has a really good serve, he serves with the same stroke but has lots of variation of spin and I get confused sometimes on returning the ball. My question is what would be the best receive if you can't determine the spin on the serve?

thanks,

Jerome

Hi Jerome,

If you aren't sure, the best thing to do is to aim for the centre of the table.  Also have a relaxed grip so that the contact can be a bit softer.

You can also think about taking the ball a bit later to give yourself more time to see the spin and to allow a bit of the spin to come off the ball.
