How to choose a table tennis ball by a one look?.what should be the weight of the ball?

Hi Omer,

Take a look at our video in our Equipment Lessons on Choosing a Ball.  This will help you to make a decision.

Here is an extract from the rules on the Ball.

2.03  THE BALL 
2.03.01  The ball shall be spherical, with a diameter of 40mm. 
2.03.02  The ball shall weigh 2.7g. 
2.03.03  The ball shall be made of celluloid or similar plastics material and shall be white or orange, and matt.

is it must 2.7g perfectly ?

what i mean is, the ball with 2.73g can't be used ? as there're some of them (DHS)

There is a bit of variation of weight.  The lighter balls tend to be put as 1 and 2 star balls.

so i found that DHS 3-stars ball is 2.73g and Stiga copetition ball is 2.76g
is it still good to use and good for a competition ball ? as it's not perfect (2.7g)
