Hi,

Now I'm using Donic Baum Espirit with DHS Neo Hurricane 3 on FH and Yasaka Mark V on BH

I've been played for one week with that bat and found that it's quite difficult to control. Especially with back hand stroke.

My backhand short return always gone long or high. It makes my opponent really easy to attack me. Can you tell me why it's happened ? Can u also give some advices for my problem ?

Thank you...

Hi Ernest,

It sounds like the rubber may be too fast for you.  The best solution is to try to play with it for a couple of weeks.  If it is still feeling too fast, then change the rubber of something slower.  I think you will be able to adjust to the Mark V after a while.

Ok then, I'll  train harder to adjust myself with my bat.

But, if in the end i want to change rubber, what BH rubber do u think slower and suitable for donic baum espirit ?

I am not sure about a slower rubber.  Others may have some suggestions.

If you feel that your current setup is not too far off from what you would like, Mark V GPS (or AD in some markets) has a softer sponge than the standard Mark V (38° vs. 45°), and therefore gives a little less speed and a little more control. Even more so, there is Mark V 30 which, as you can guess, has a 30° sponge and is again one step slower and has a bit more control than the GPS/AD version.

Now if in go in that direction, be aware that there are advantages (lightness, control, easy top spin) and drawbacks (bouncyness, imprecision in smashes and blocks) to soft sponges vs. hard sponges. If your game requires hard sponges, stick to it and find something slower. One rubber that is slower that Mark V, with better control and at least as good grip, hugely popular in France (best seller for the last 30 years) is Tibhar Vari Spin (http://www.tabletennisdb.com/rubber/tibhar-vari-spin.html). It is the go-to rubber for beginners, and yet some of the best players in my club still stick to it, due to the security (control) it offers in any situation. Plus it is cheap and durable.

Hope this helps.
