We did a Blog a while back that I think will answer a lot of these questions you have about Table Tennis Robots.

Finding one serve your opponent doesn't like can win you a match. That's why it's important to be able to serve with variation. When you playing an opponent try different variations of each serve and see what your opponent doesn't like.
