Equipment
Hi guys I am now 67 years old and I have started playing tt again after 17years of not picking up a bat. I played international tt for my country around 40 years ago ( Wales uk ) but now the strange rubbers make it very different to what I learned then. I still want to ( and will ) play my attacking game but can you advise me how I should best approach playing against these rubbers when they didn't exist in my prime. If you could move from Oz and come and live next door to me, I'm sure it would help!!!!
Many Thanks John Spencer
Hi John,
Firstly you must be very skilled to have played for Wales.
The strange rubbers just need time to learn how to play. They will reverse the spin on the ball so as long as you know that you will be able to dictate what type of spin you get back.
It is a matter of letting yourself adjust to the spin and speed. It really won't take you too long to do this if you keep your mind open.
Just let me know when the next door property becomes available.
There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!
