Hi, is it true that for tall players is harder to play table tennis than small players (china, etc) ? If its true then why ?

Hi Ernestas,

Tall players have advantages as well in Table Tennis. They have better reach.

There have been tall World champions like Jorgen Persson.  So it si possible to become very good if you are tall.  There is also Vladimir Samsonov who is a highly ranked player.

Not to mention Wang Liqin, multiple world champion.  At a more local level, some of the toughest people to play against at my club are those long lankey players with long arms that seem to chase down any ball.

the only problem for me being 6'2'' table tennis player is having to crouch. i have the habit to stand tall and end up over shooting the ball.

I am 6' 1" tall. i want to know if there is any change in technique regarding angle of bat and follow through of the shot for tall player.

Hi Jawad,

No there is no real difference.  You will notice that the really good tall players bend their legs really well to get low.
