Hi, what is the difference between a loop, drive and smash? Could you explain the technical difference as well in executing the 2 different techniques?

Hi JinMeng,

A drive has more topspin, the smash is a flatter contact and faster shot.

The drive you would contact the ball with more of a brushing action and have a more vertical action.  The smash you start with your bat higher and come through more horizontally.

Thank you very much. As you were replying me, I was playing table tennis. My friend gave me a topspin/no spin ball(those kind of balls you give for warm ups in competitions like forehand to forehand rally). And I managed to give a spinny, low topspin, penetrating back that crossed the net...and i somehow got it just by chance.(i never done that before). However, after trying several times, my old kind of return came back again- which has high( neck height), slow but spinny..Do you know why? Because I din expect to do it and it was only one time. Many thanks.

Perhaps you went a little more forward on it.  Table Tennis is a matter of trial and error a lot.  You just have to keep working on skills and seeing what works for you.
