Hi Alois and Jeff,

I want to ask which rubber is better between the tenergy 05 or the tenergy 64.

I own a tenergy 05 and i love it but i am not too sure about the tenergy 64.

i hope you do a video about this but if you cant for any sort of reason like if the rubber is too expensive then you cannot do a video.

thanks for reading my question,

Ashley Koh Jia Jhin

Hi Ashley,

Most of the top players use the 05.  It is a bit faster than the 64.  It just depends on which one suits your game better.

alois, i own both a 64 and a 05. however, i have a 05fx and it seems to me that the 05fx is a superior rubber. thanks, steve

Alois im sorry but your wrong, actually the Tenergy 64 is faster that the Tenergy 05, but the Tenergy 05 is a little bit more spinny.

it depends which blade u r using it on. hard or soft blades, since t05 is hard rubber it is faster on a soft blade. and opposite

I own the Joo See Hyuk ST Blade and I just got Feint Long III Japanese OX, i was wondering which Tenergy i should use since I play a modern Defense style and am looking for a very good Counter attacking rubber on my forehand

Darren,

I think you must use a long pips rubber in your backhand and something like the Takifire class c soft in your forehand...

From Butterfly's marketing it seems Tenergy 05 is for close to the table attacking and Tenergy 64 is for mid-distance attacking.  As a modern defensive player, you would be attacking more from mid distance so I'd go with Tenergy 64 out of the two.  I might be wrong but I recall reading that Joo Se Hyuk uses Tenergy 64 on his FH?  The Tenergy 05 FX has a softer sponge (and therefore better control, less speed - some reviews suggest it is easier to loop against backspin with it).  I used to use Tenergy 05 on my FH and Tenergy 05 FX on the BH and it was an excellent combination.

Hi coach.

It had been awhile since I am here. I had followed the previous advice given to me 2 years back and now had recently learned the art of 2 wing looping. Thankyou so much till now.

However, I need your advice once again. Recently I had heard of players using Double Happiness Hurricane 3 rubber on their forehand, and they brag about its capabilities. I managed to attain a decently used piece from one of them and tried it out on my blade.

This is my observation: At normal stroking a warm up, I can control the ball quite well. However, when I start to loop, I made alot of mistakes that confused me, as many of the balls went into the net immediately. Hence I hypothesise that is probably I am still using a forehand stroke perfected to tenergy playing style. I adapted quickly over it, and soon I realised the Hurricane rubber is demanding me for the exact stroke to bring the ball over.  When I finally manage to gain control over it and began to do counter looping, I realised I had to put my whole body into play (becoming a power loop) and yet the ball only goes as fast as a normal loop using  tenergy. I checked with my training partner and he commented the speed is still there, but the spin and power is gone, hence not posing a threat to anyone.

This make me wonder, are some players just 'fated' to use Hurricane rubber,  and why are the chinese players using Hurricane rubbers, is it because it is super 'out of the world' rubber. And the main question I am trying to figure out is : " is the Hurricane rubber suited me' and should I substitute my tenergy rubbers which I had been using every since my first professional custom bat on both sides for a Hurricane Rubber on my forehand. ,

Background information: Before my first custom bat I had been using a pre-assembly bat that have 729 rubbers on both sides. After that, I had been using custom bats with tenergy rubbers on both sides for 3 years.

What is your opinion?

thank you so much

Hi Mark,

Glad to hear from you again.

I think you should go back to the Tenergy.  Most Hurricane that is available is not the same rubber that the Chinese National team use.  Tenergy is a high quality rubber and you will find a difference.

Hi coach

I had switched back to my usual set up of T80 on my forehand and T64 on my backhand. =)  It feels so different.

I had begin to learn some new forehand skills (such as the flick and looping near table downspin ball which only jump off the table edge only by a margin of 1 to 2 cm , however that required me to change bat because there is a really high risk of me hitting my bat into the table. My bat have sentimental values, hence I decided to use an old bat of not really use. It had T05 as forehand and T64 for backhand. Oh my, I realised the difference in my forehand immediately. T05 is harder and faster then T64. Hence my service become higher and less spin.

yours sincerely,

Mark
