Hi Frendy,

I think a light and grippy shoe are the keys.

Let's see what others think about good shoes.

I personally use Vibram Five Fingers to play table tennis. You may or may not be interested in this type of shoe because of the 'new demand' it places on some of your muscles, but I believe the extreme lightness and flexibility allow you complete freedom for any of your shots. Of course, the grip is top notch as well, perhaps too good at times.

According to this article, http://www.breaking2000.com/table-tennis-shoes/, it depends on the type of floor you're currently playing.

Table tennis shoes are designed to be light and grippy for tournament floor, so they are not too grippy. But most of us play on concrete, tile, parquet, wood floors, so they may be too slippery.

There are a lot of shoes that also have good grip.  A lot of the indoor sports shoes are also good for Table Tennis.

so, what shoes you and jeff use and what's the reason ?

Alois Rosario

I am not playing competitively.  I just use a normal Asics runner.  I like the Asics indoor shoe though as it gives you good support and also is light enough and has good grip.

I've used "Asics ATTACK BLADELYTE3" and "Mizuno WAVE DRIVE A"

They are both good enough,I personally prefer  Asics.

DHS Lover Posted 10 years ago

which one of the asics is the best
is it have a lot of grip and light ? and also it's cheaper than the butterfly one ?

LIN WEI JUI

LIN WEI JUI Posted 10 years ago

I think "Asics ATTACK BLADELYTE3" is the answer for you right now.

"BTY ENERGY FORCE XII" has the same sole design from "Asics ATTACK BLADELYTE3".

Most BTY shoes are OEM from Asics.

You can Google the photos & prices.

i think the butterfly XII is very rear as i can't find it hear...

LIN WEI JUI

LIN WEI JUI Posted 10 years ago

hmm...

BTY ENERGY FORCE XII is the new Spring product on Sunday 21 April, 2013.

As far as I know,

BTY ENERGY FORCE XII = Asics ATTACK BLADELYTE3 (Model: TPA329)

BTY ENERGY FORCE XI  = Asics ATTACK SP (Model: TPA328).....

They have the same sole design from Asics.

You can find the words "Asics" on BTY  sole.

anyway, what type of asics indoor shoes is the best as there're many asics indoor shoes

Oliver

Oliver Posted 10 years ago

I tried some cheap dhs ones with weights for training sometimes. My footwork improved a lot quicker. But I do not recommend that for competition.

DHS Lover

DHS Lover Posted 10 years ago

so, is it better to just use a pair of shoes or two ? as many people in my club said that my shoes is too expensive for training so i think to buy a pair of asics that's cheaper for training but sir alois tell me to use the same shoes for the same feeling when i'm in a competition

confused...

Oliver

Oliver Posted 10 years ago

im not an expert (not even close) on this, but I think it is best if you use heavy shoes or cheap ones for training but one or two weeks before you change back to get the "feeling"

DHS Lover

DHS Lover Posted 10 years ago

rather than the heavy shoes i prefer to use the ankle weight to increase my footwork
i found some asics shoes that's discounted and cost around 24$
do you think it's cheap or not ? as my shoes now is 40$

Alois Rosario

Alois Rosario from PingSkills Posted 10 years ago

yes that is cheap.

i beleive in playing barefoot. yet i have shoes. do u think coach playing barefoot have some good advantage??

Alois Rosario

Alois Rosario from PingSkills Posted 10 years ago

It can have advantages as long as your feet are strong.  If not it could also cause problems with your feet because Table Tennis is demanding on your feet.

I have found that my indoor Futbol (Soccer) boots (shoes) work very well for table tennis on hardwood floors..

Light, just the right amount of grip, and affordable.

I recently started playing table tennis again and I'm really getting into it.  I have played my entire life but only garage level stuff.  Anyway.  I wear Vibram Five Fingers every chance I get so I started wearing them while playing.  Extremely light which allows for better mobility.   Those toes come in handy.  You just gotta get used to them.  It's basically being barefoot with the luxury of having a rubber sole to keep your feet protected.  Just my 2 cents

Im using a Nike's Multicourt 10, it has a nice grippy surface and perfect balance point, is not the lighter shoes you can get, but for the price and quiality they are a nice option to buy.

i trained for years volleyball and handball and i considerated most important the grippy and balance point against weight. cause with a less of training your legs get more powerfull and the weight of any shoes doesnt matter to much, but to play you ALWAYS need a shoes that give you a perfect position to hot the ball in the best way.
