Hi coach, this might be a weird type of question but if i would throw the racket and hit the ball and the ball goes over to the oponents side of the table, would it be accepted or not?

(i will not start throwing rackets here and there if the answer is yes, i was just wondering)

Hi Sebastian,

Unfortunately this is not a good shot.  The racket must be in your hand when you hit the ball.

Doubles Serving Rules

In this video we go over the somewhat complicated rules of serving for doubles in table tennis. There are a couple of extra rules for doubles that you don't apply to singles. In doubles you always serve from the right hand box diagonally to your opponent's right hand box. Each player has 2 serves each. If you've just been receiving then it's your turn to serve next.

good question.  I often throw my racquet at the ball if it's out of reach.  This at least clarifies what happens if I ever successfully return the ball using this method.
