Tightness of grip and arm

Hello Alois. I know that we hold the bat quite loose when we loop or chop but my question is how tightly do we hold the bat and how tightly we keep the arm at the point of contact of a smash or at the point of contact of a fast drive.  Is it okay to tighten the grip at the contact point of slow loops?  I have searched older questions but you only mention holding the bat loosely and nothing about the loosness of the arm at the point of contact. Can you please explain  how the tautness of the arm varies at the point of contact for various strokes such as the loop , chop and push. Thank You.

Hi Abhiram,

In reality the tightness doesn't need to change at all on contact.  The bat will remain in your hand as long as you maintain the grip that you have at the start.  Any tension will mean a decrease in the movement of your hand, fingers, wrist which means less speed or spin.
