Hi Alois

Why do players call time outs, and what they are thinking during the time out?

Hi Yap,

Players will call a time out if they feel they need a break.  This can often be when they feel there is an important point coming up and they may need some time to gather their thoughts.

They also may call a time out if their opponent is gaining confidence and looks like they are on the way to winning the match.

In the time out players will think about tactics for the upcoming points or will focus on calming themselves down to be ready to play the next points.
