what are your thoughts on the effects of being in the position where you are bottom of a division for a whole year not winning anything and then the following year being top of the lower division and winning everything, and then the same pattern again. do you think either can have a positive or negative effect on your improvement? does it really build confidence if you are winning all the time or does it stop you from trying hard and fighting for every point? conversely if you are winning no games all season in the harder division, does this demoralise, or make you more of a fighter?

Hi Andrew

This is an interesting question. I think it always depends on the personality of the player. Often when looking if I would recommend a pleyr try to go up a division or stay in a lower division, I look at whether I think they will cope with a lot of losses. For some players this will turn them away from the game. Similarly for some players the challenge of playing better players will inspire them and make them work harder to improve.

I have seen many players demoralised by being thrown into a higher grade and also a lot of players who's progress is retarded because they have been left in a lower division. It really is horses for courses in this case. Know the personality of th eplayer before making a decision

Hi Alois Could you give me any tips to stop me from tightening up near the end of the game. I have had a difficult first season back in the game, not winning hardly any games, but i have improved a lot throughout the year, now i am getting some good scores against decent players, last nights match, I got 9 or above in 7 out of ten matches! However, when I am up, say 10-7, or 9-7, which is quite often I am seeing the finishing line and tensing up. I either play half shots, or go for the hit to quickly and miss it. It nearly always end up with them coming back and winning. I know I have to stay calm, but any tips on how would be very helpful.
