I have seen your lessons on top spin and I can play the top spin shot against the counter. I struggle to play the top spin when the opponent plays a chop and balls moves slow & low.

Whenever I try to hit the ball, it get stopped at the net. I was advised to move the bat upward while playing the topspin. But it does not help me to improve the shot.

Do I need to be little side on while playing this shot?

Should I be near to the table while playing the shot?

Please help

Hi Abhinav,

If the ball is going into the net you do need to lift the ball more by having a more vertical stroke.

You do need to be quite close to the table and hit the ball when it is beside you.  Because a ball that has backspin on it stops and doesn't come through as fast as a ball with topspin, you need to be close to the table.

Many players find they hit this ball in front of them because the ball stops.  If it drops just off the end of the table get your left foot even under the table to get close enough to make this shot.

Hope this helps you.
