i've watched your video on topspin vs. backspin but i really just can't seem to do it at all.  Whenever i lose points to people who are worse than me it's because i try to do too much and his a topspin winner.  The shots are either going into the net or a little bit off the end of the opponent's side.

thanks.

Hi Jeremy,

Without seeing you do the stroke it is a little difficult, but try these tips.

Make sure your bat is finishing in exactly the correct finish position and make sure you are brushing the ball on contact.

Then it is a matter of practicing the stroke often.  You will need to be a little patient with this perhaps.  If your opponent is varying the amount of spin on the ball you will need to adjust your stroke slightly, either by closing your bat over the ball (less backspin) or opening it up a little (more backspin).

Persevere with it.  Watch the Lesson on Topspin Against Backspin many times to make sure you have a good picture of what the stroke looks like.  Even try to video yourself playing the stroke so that you can compare the two.  If you are close to a club perhaps think about getting some coaching so that they can work on the stroke with you.

I hope this helps.
