How can I hit a hard topspin far away from the table?

Hi Max,

Take a look at our lesson on theĀ Forehand Topspin Against Block. The further away from the table you are, the bigger your swing can become but the basics remain the same. Often if you are further away from the table the ball will be dropping so you might need to lift the ball up with a more vertical swing. You'll still need to brush the ball to get plenty of topspin so the ball can get enough dip to go up and down onto the table.

When you need to reach that really wide ball the regular shuffle step just won't get you there in time so you need to use the crossover step. This is essentially a running action to get you to the ball as fast as possible.
