Hi

I have a problem with topspin vs backspin..in a game..if 10 times backspin ball came in a game...maybe just 5 or 3 that i can really return it with topspin..and it never been consistent.  that is very stressfull though….some say that i use rubber that too hard..i have use vega pro. tnergy 05 .tnergy 80 ..all of them never make me satisfied...and some say that softer rubber is more easily to return heavy backspin ball...is that true??......and can you list rubber that suitable for against backspin...and my setup is donic ovtchorov carbospeed.tnergy 80 FH.TSP ventus Spin BH

Sorry for my english....hope you can answer it....

Hi Khalid,

I think the most important thing is technique with the stroke.  Much more important than the type of rubber or blade you are using.  A player with a good topspin against backspin can play the stroke with any reasonable bat.

Focus on the finish position of your stroke first and make sure you are finishing high.  Then think about the contact of the bat on the ball.  Make sure it is a brushing contact.

Take a look at our lesson on the Forehand Topspin Off Backspin for more tips.
