Is there consensus on what are the best foods to eat on the days leading up to, and day of, a tournament, e.g. carbs vs proteins?

Hi Jane,

It will depend on your tournament and how long it will last.

The night before you can eat some carbs.  On the day it is important to stay well hydrated and keep eating small amounts of food regularly.  Things like bananas are good on the day as well as complex carbohydrates.  Proteins take longer to break down so aren't as useful on the day.

Hi Alois,

Thank you. That somewhat answered my question in that you said to eat carbs the night before.  I'm familiar with what to eat during a tournament, but wondered more about the days before and the morning before a long tournament.

In the morning you can have some milk drink, cereal or some toast or bananas.
