Training

Hi there,

I do not have time to meet up with my training buddy that much anymore. So I was wondering, what is the most efficient way to practise drills by myself and how do I make the time with my training buddy (knowing that he is my doubles partner) effective?

Cheers

Hi Ollie,

It is difficult to practice drills by yourself.  You could invest in a robot that will feed balls to you so that you can practice your strokes.  Alternatively get someone to feed multiball to you.  They don't need to be a good player to be able to do this.

To use your time best when training we suggest dividing your time between warm up, training drills, match drills, games and serving practice.

Training drills are mainly footwork drills where you are doing repetitive drills using your footwork. Match drills are drills that start with a serve and simulate a game situation.  There will still be a set pattern to these at the start of each rally so that you can focus on improving an aspect of your game.

We have a lot of drills that we show you in our DVD Training Secrets Revealed.  This outlines in detail the drills that you can use and also explains why each drill is useful.  You can purchase this through our DVDs page on our site.  You can also get it as part of our Secrets Revealed Pack or Super Pack.

Good luck.

We could have called this master class never give up. It's amazing when you are on the back foot in a rally how many times you can actually win the point just by making your opponent play one extra ball. Watch the video to find out how effective this is and how you can practice this skill.
