Hello,

I wanted to share a video from Facebook, which shows a girl learning forehand topspin, but there is no bat or ball involved. My question is how important or effective this kind of training can be for a little child beginning to learn to play the game of table tennis.

Click here to watch the video.

Hi Arnab,

This is a form of Shadow Play with an interesting addition of the wheel.  You could even add the bat into this routine.  Probably an old bat that you didn’t mind hitting on a wheel.

This can be useful for players learning the stroke.  It looks like she has a good forehand technique with what she is doing.

#9 - Forehand Attacking Technique

In this session we introduce some random drills. A random drill is where you don't always know where the ball is going. Random drills are really important for your development as they are more game like. You need to be able to play your strokes well even when you don't know where the ball is going. We also continue to work on your new serve. This week we introduce a target into your service practice to help you gain even more control on your serve.
