transition from tenergy 05 to T64 on backhand

Dear Coach Alois,

I had transited from both smooth rubbers (Tenergy 05) to Tenergy 05 on my forehand and ternergy 64 on my backhand.

I notice something strange about Tenergy 64. It seems faster and less spin could be generated comparing to the Tenergy 05. Queerly, it felt like the playing style of the short pimple I used to play on my backhand. In the End, I am blocking and hitting the ball instead of spinning from my backhand side.

I decided to try out tenergy 64 on my backhand after realizing top ranking China players like Zhang JiKe and Malong are using tenergy 64 on their backhand.

Should I just keep training with tenergy 64 and hope I will finally get the technique to spin the ball (like the way I did with Tenergy 05 on my backhand), or should i just use my prior short pimple playing style with tenergy 64.

Please advice,

thanks

yours sincerely,

Mark

Hi Mark,

I would stay with the Tenergy 64 on the backhand for a while longer.  It is softer than the 05 so brush the ball more to get the lift rather than hitting through the ball.  This will give you the best effect with the new rubber.

Tone is in Your Fingers

There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!
