Dear all

didn't know such a forum existed. Thanks to everyone involved in making this a success.

My questions to the experts would be

I had a number of racquets before and finally played quite high up in local competitions levels. So my weapon USED to be the mark V. Very traditional very nice. Then the usual stuff like college, job, marriage etc let my TT take a backseat.

All of a sudden some known people looked up my credentials and are asking me to play for their club which incidentally i am a  member of too.

Anyways to cut the long story short i need some very expert advice on picking up a racquet (blade and rubber) which will help me pickup soon and probably get back to maybe 70% of the level that i was in.

Kindly help

Regards

Hi Rahul,

I would recommend Mark V again.  It is still a good rubber.  If you wanted something a little faster then go for Yasaka Pryde.  These are by no means the only choices but they are choices that we know are good.

We have a PingSkills Touch blade that would probably also suit. The main thing is to get a blade that isn't too fast and will allow you enough control to get your touch back.

Rosario thanks a lot

I in between used to play with racquets lying here and there at work

Some butterfly -jon r f something something ... i dont remember the name you would.... was quite nice as i could get accustomed to the speed very easily and i sometimes preferred that.

Could you please throw some more light on a good spin speed combo.. not so very defensive... but i play with extreme placings ie putting the ball off here and there... and with speed of course

Regards to you and a very happy new year

Hi Rahul,

Happy New Year to you also.

The Butterfly Jonyer is a good control racket as well.

Don't worry too much about equipment.  Just get something that is around the range you need and then work hard with your skills.
