Hello,

I am new to the TT Game. I need a perfect bat to kickoff my learning practice. I watched the PingSkills video and got impressed. Please suggest the best racket from PingSkills so that I can order it.

Please tell me the score in percent for the speed, spin and control

Thanks for the online coaching. It is really helpful.

Thanks

Raja

Hi Raja,

I would recommend the PingSkills Rook to start with.  This will give you good control as well as enough spin and speed to learn the strokes effectively.

Ratings are very subjective and differ from manufacturer to manufacturer.

Tone is in Your Fingers

There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!

Hi Raja.  I'm a TT newbie too and I purchased the ROOK about 2 months ago (and a second one just this week) after trying several cheaper pre-made, control-focused bats (Dragonfly, Donic).  The ROOK gives me the control I need to assist in learning and improving my strokes, which I have managed well in just the past 6 weeks.  It also provides really good spin - much better than the cheaper bats and this alone has helped me start beating players that I couldn't previously beat.  Speed isn't important to me and I still hit the ball quite slowly as I find the more speed I try to generate the less control I have.  However, I've let some of my colleagues try the ROOK and they are able to generate plenty of speed.  So the speed is available if and when you can use it.

The bat feels really nicely weighted and balanced too so it helps to maintain a soft grip as you don't feel the need to 'hang onto' it.

I highly recommend it for anyone starting out (like us) but wanting to get more serious.  Good luck with the choice and your TT.

Thanks Alois and Rufuss thoo for your insights on the Rook.

I have been playing TT for last one month using the ArtengoTT bat which is basic version and I learnt the rules, basic level of serves, forehand and backhand loop by watching the ping skills videos. Last three days I got more interest on pen hold grip rather than shake hand but actually the artengo basic version bat which I have been using is the shake hand grip; Means I am using the shake hand TT bat for pen hold grip which is not correct; also I my hands are paining after some time.

Now I am Planning to upgrade my bat to Ping skills Rook or Touch (Mark V Rubber). I am a beginner and I confused to select my style (shake hand or Pen hold).

Please provide your answers to the questions below, so it helps to order the right bat from pingskills.

Questions:

1. Can I use shake hand or Pen hold?.

2. Is the Rook and Touch has both the Grips (shake hand,Pen hold)?

2. I am comfortable with TT game. Shall I order Rook or Touch?

3. I am from India, Bangalore. what is the delivery time?

4. where shall I place the order?

I am a begginer & have chosen Joola Black Attack as my new TT Bat, which says 72 power, 92 control & 72 spin. Is that the right choice?

By the way, Thanks Pingskills for everything

Hey yosh, you may want more spin than that paddle but that will do as long as it has good quality rubber but may I suggest the Custom Gambler with IM7 Blade and Sevens Rubber or any other gambler paddles $20-$50 they are all good paddles to learn with. Now if you wanted to be a real champ you could go with the ping skills rook which I found to be AMAZING, I am a high spin player and when I picked up that I was in love, the spin creates is astounding. It may be slightly more spendy but you'll be happy you got it. ;)
