Hi Coach,
One of my colleague uses underspin spin and it spins a lot. His serve is having a ton of underspin. I use push shot to return and i pushes it at the end of my bat (almost near the handle) otherwise it does not go to his corner. i pushes very hard.
But i want to use "Forehand Topspin Against Backspin" shot that i uses a lot and gets point regularly. But when ever i uses "Forehand Topspin Against Backspin" against the above mentioned serve it goes in vein, my return does not even go to the net as well. my question is that is there any limitation of that shot or i does not play this shot properly. some sort of advice or improvement is required while playing this particular shot. Plz suggest me.
Hi Trilochan,
There is no limitation to the topspin against backspin stroke. No matter how much spin there, it is always possible to lift this ball.
Here are a few suggestions:
You may need more racket speed on contact so that it will help to lift the ball over the net.
You may need to make the stroke more vertical.
You may need to brush the ball more to lift it.
You could open the face of the racket a little to help with the lift.
Try these few things out. Remember it is always possible so keep trying.
