Upgrade from Premade to Custom Bat

Equipment

Hi! I'm a high school student who just discovered table tennis. I've been using a premade bat for a couple of months. I liked table tennis so I decided to upgrade from my premade bat to a custom one while finding someone to teach me table tennis. I'm reading articles about buying a new custom bat, so I decided on these. Butterfly PRIMORAC blade, and SRIVER for both sides.

Is it a good combination for a begginer like me? And what sponge thickness will I use?

Hi Bob,

I like your choice of combination.  That is a good all round choice that will aloow you to transition from the custom made bat.

Use a 1.5 to 1.8 mm thickness.

Always err on the side of choosing a slower bat.

Hi PingSkills!

Thanks for answering my question. I still haven't purchased that racket combo, because when I looked it up on the Table Tennis Store here, The Butterfly Primorac Blade costs USD69.89 and the SRIVER is USD33.33 which is too much for my savings :).

By the way, my Premade Racket is a Butterfly CHAMP Series II F-3. Is it a good racket? Or do I really need to change to a custom bat?

Sorry for the Bad English, I don't really speak English :)

You could try taking the rubber off your current bat and just replacing that.  It is a cheaper option and may be a good step up anyway.
