How do I play table tennis with a bat with no grip?
Hi Max,
The strokes and techniques that we teach here at PingSkills mostly require a good bat with decent grip. We recommend the PingSkills Rook and PingSkills Touch.
Table Tennis is all about spin. If you can't generate spin it makes it difficult to compete. Some defensive players use long pimples on their backhand and this can work well for defensive strokes like the Backhand Chop.
You certainly can't play aggressive strokes like the Forehand Topspin Against Block unless you have a grippy rubber on your bat.
There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!
