Hi,

Ever since I mastered the topspin, I have always been doing a really fast topspin to my opponent to quickly end the point as soon as I get the chance.I saw many of your replies in ask the coach to vary the amount of spin and speed. So how do we vary the amount of spin on both our backhand and forehand topspin? Also, sometimes when I do my backhand topspin, it will sometimes fly into the net or go off the end of the table. What should I do? Thanks

Hi Hao,

To vary the spin you can contact the ball slightly more flat rather than brush.  Then for speed , just slow the speed of your swing down a little as well.

It is a matter of getting the feel and touch by doing it often and experimenting with angles and contacts and speeds.  Eventually you will build up enough information to get the variations you are looking for.

Snake Shot

A snake shot is a type of stroke which is specifically used against a drop shot. It is usually loaded with a heavy spin so that the opponent finds it difficult to counter. The type of spin can be backspin, sidespin or topspin depending on your choice. You need to make a movement after hitting the ball to confuse your opponent.
