Victim of block

Strategy

Hi  Alois/Jeff

I am becoming victim of block.  When I pivot to my backhandside and do a fast forehand topspin, my oponent does a block diverting the ball to the other end of the table.  He does something similar to what Vladimir Samsonov does in 0.21 of the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWi1iJxIrNA. How to prevent myself by becoming victim of such block?

Thanks

Bala

Hi Balaji,

When you pivot, make the forehand cross court and wide as you can.  This will mean that they can't get you too far wide on your forehand.

You also need to judge when to pivot.  You need to have time to make a strong shot from that position.
