Hello,

A friend of mine keeps saying i need to upgrade my rubber, he said my rubber is dead. i don't really understand how he knows the rubber is dead. Could you give some pointer about the rubber itself? how do I know it's dead, and how do I know I need to upgrade my rubber to a better one?

By the way, my current rubbers are Sword 2000-F.

thank you.

Hi Dionysius,

Rubber has a limited life.  The best way to check if it is dead is to rub your finger across the surface of the rubber.  If it feels slippery then it is probably dead.  The rubber should be grippy.

If it is slippery then it is definitely time to upgrade or replace the rubber.

Tone is in Your Fingers

There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!

As a basic rule of thumb, rubbers will generally last around 80 to 100 playing hours before they need to be replaced. But the best way to tell is test the grip as Alois mentioned above.

Yes, it was slippery. I guess it's time to replace.

Thank you for your answer Alois and Jeff.
