Hi alois

I am wondering what to do when someone topspins it? Wether I should go back from the table and topspin the ball back or wether I should just block it back. What do you reccommend doing?

Hi Xavier,

This decision depends on how much time you have and the strengths of the opposition.

If you are struggling for time with the shot then the block is the best option.  If you have more time then you can decide to move and play a topspin back.  You also need to see whether your opponent is strong when you are blocking.  If they have a really good topspin that you are not going to cope with two or three balls then you may need to take more risks.  If however their topspin doesn't really scare you then you can block the ball and wait for their error.
