Hi Pingskills, I want to ask which is better ? That's to generate topspin or hit the ball flat because what I know is that topspin will make the ball fast and deep on the table and also make it hard to block but, what I know that you ever said more flat contact on the ball will make the ball have more speed and faster than topspin and also which is better between a lot of topspin vs smash when the ball is up high, and which is better between topspin and counterhit ? Please for the answer :D thank you

Hi Frendy,

Topspin makes the shot safer.  If the ball is high then you can smash the ball because you have a direct line from the contact point to the table.  However if the ball is lower then the topspin is a safer shot to allow you to get the ball over the net and then dip onto the table.  The counterhit is usually a slower controlled shot.  As you advance you wouldn't play many counterhits in a game, it would be more topspin.

Topspin is a very important stroke in the game.

Yes you can if you are looking to control the ball during a rally.

Counterhit is more like a practice stroke. You could use it close to table but mid table you have to loop

anyway, as topspin and a fast flat contact is a fast ball, which one is better ? with more flat contact it mean more speed and with more topspin it will mean more dip and fast
what do you think about it alois ? and what's the different between topspin and fast flat contact ?

Personally unless the ball is very high, I prefer to play a topspin stroke. You can still hit very powerful topspin strokes and the as Alois mentioned, the topspin makes it a safer stroke.
