Training
Hi.I am Devvrat Singh. I am 11 years old.I was taught TT at the age of 7 by my mom and dad. After I was 11 years old,I went to a TT training academy termed 'Sanjeev and Ankur's Academy of Table Tennis Training'.I already had an idea of what 'push' was.The training was of one month. In the academy I learnt 'topspin' and perfected my 'push'.After that training,I continuously played TT with some college students whom dad taught (some of the college students played really well). Now what should I do to improve my TT skills?
Thanks.
Hi Devvrat,
You are on the right track. Well done.
The next things I would focus on are making sure your consistency on those strokes is getting better. Try to get 50 topspins in a row without a mistake and try to do 100 pushes both forehand and backhand. This will make sure your strokes are becoming proficient.
Then you can start to work on your topspin against a backspin ball and also work on your serves.
The main thing at your age is to keep working consistently on your game. Keep enjoying what you are doing. It is a great game that you have chosen.
The forehand and backhand topspin strokes are two of the most important strokes in table tennis. In lesson 6 you start playing these strokes first by getting someone to throw the ball to you. This makes it easier to get into the correct position and concentrate on the correct start and finish position, and the essential brushing contact. You can then progress to using this in a rally where your training partner learns to block the topspin back.
