Wristy backhand

Strokes

Hi Alois/Jeff

I sometimes use the backhand with just a wrist action similar to the back hand side spin flick when the ball is half long and also from deep of the table as well.

I use the regular backhand when I play the shot slight away from the table and away.

Sometimes I find the wrist shot effective and sometimes difficult to control. What would you recommend for backhand of balls of different lengths. Is this technique fine.

Thanks

Regards

Grenville

Hi Grenville,

I think the wrist action is useful especially when you don’t have time to play a full stroke.  When you have a bit more time, add the use of the forearm but certainly when the ball is on you quickly the wrist stroke works well.
