Above is a preview of our latest video on the backhand serve. Because the backhand serve is not as popular as the pendulum serve, players in general have had less experience returning against it which means if you develop a really good backhand serve, it could be a potent weapon.

Jason here from Yarrawonga, There has been some controversy about serving. Where are you allowed to serve in regard to the side of the table?? As long as you strike the ball inside the line of the table for the pendulum serve? Ps. I hope countryweek can go back to Albert ParK???
Jeff Plumb from PingSkills Posted 8 years ago
Hi Jason,
As long as you are behind the end line, you can serve from anywhere, even from outside the width of the table. We cover this in our Service Rules video. Let me know if that clears things up.
Do you think most people would prefer Country Week back at Albert Park?

Thank you so much! Have been waiting for this video! I use backhand when I play doubles and always feel awkward and incompetent when i serve. Hopefully this video will help me become confident.

I serve a lot backhand, but I can't get anything like the spin Jeff was in the video. is this just timing?
Alois Rosario from PingSkills Posted 7 years ago
It is timing and also contact. The fast brushing action comes with a quick movement of the wrist and forearm.

Still having a problem keeping the ball low enough!
Alois Rosario from PingSkills Posted 7 years ago
Try hitting the ball from lower. Let the ball drop lower after you throw it up and almost let the ball drop onto the bat.

Okay, will try thank you!!
