Strokes
Hi Alois
I have able to do the 3rd ball attack well by ( pivoting if needed and )getting into position quickly , doing the forehand topspin and win points on this but there's the odd ball which now and then goes into the net and then I realize that either the ball was too low or it had more spin than i anticipated.
I wanted to know what finer points I need to keep in mind before I try and go in for the winner? Also is there any particular drills I must do before a match (for example like a few topspin to topspin) with the opponent.
I wanted to know this as I have seen - on one side i am attacking well and getting points but at the same time I am giving away points as well during attacking because of unforced errors.
Thanks
Grenville
Hi Grenville,
You are doing things well. For those balls that go into the net because of the two reasons you have mentioned, just use a more vertical stroke. The more you do the stroke the better you will get at recognising these early and being able to adjust to the lower and spinnier ball.
In the warm up just do a few counterhits and topspins on both sides.
In your pre match hit up say for 30 minutes before a match, you should focus on making sure you are serving well, receiving well and making the 3rd balls well. These are the things that you will be doing most in a match and require touch.
More is better as far as practice now of this stroke.
Topspin-to-topspin rallies are fast, dynamic, and can be the key to winning more points! 🏓🔥 Learning how to control these exchanges will help you stay on the attack and put pressure on your opponent.
