Hi, coach!

I noticed that professionals do FH flick vs short backspin very rarerly. Noticed that they usually prefer FH push or they move to do BH banana flick. For example, in the matches I rarerly see this :

Is it very risky to do FH flick even for pro players?

Hi Ardak,

The Backhand allows you to utilise your wrist more easily that is why the top players tend to favour the Backhand flick over the Forehand flick.  The one thing that they have the advantage of is their movement after that ball back to a neutral position to be able to play the next ball well.

That is what I think for most players it is important to develop the forehand flick as well as it keeps you in a more central position to the able to recover and play the 4th ball well.

Strawberry Flick

The strawberry flick is the opposite of the banana flick and involves utilising the wrist to get the ball spinning with topspin and sidespin. Used in conjunction with the banana flick it can be very deceptive. The banana flick is a more reliable stroke and that's why you see more top players using it over the strawberry flick.
