Actions of strokes

Strokes

When I play my strokes some of the players say that my actions are a little awkward such as some say that I hold my bat loose. Some say that I use short action such as start to end position of topspin is different from standard.

So I am getting confused, my age is 36.so my question is.

1. Should everyone have the same action as it is?

2. If my start and end position is very slight different from others then is it wrong?

3. Does body structure effect the actions?

Hi Jayant,

I think it s important to have the basics correct and then you can alter them to suit your own style or body.

Slight differences don't matter, but if you are not doing your strokes efficiently or effectively then you need to think about changing.

Anticipation

How is it that a player can always seem to get back those extremely fast topspins? Is it their incredible anticipation? The key to good anticipation actually lies in tracking the ball well. When you watch the ball closely your peripheral vision will pick up your opponents movements and with lots of practice those signs will help you anticipate what your opponent is going to do. This happens naturally with lots of experience. So it it your job to ensure that you are tracking the ball really carefully.
