Hi Alois

Is it true that every time I do forehand or backhand counter hit, I should add some top spin into it?

My coach said my backhand counter hit lacks power and control.

Please help

Hi Ittipat,

When you are doing any of those strokes they will have a little bit of topspin.  The topspin gives you more control of the ball and will also help it to go onto the table. If you are trying to hit the bal faster it is really important to have a little bit of topspin.

Thanks a lot, Alois. I always hit the ball flat on the contact for counter hit, and I thought that's why some balls go straight into the net. But now I will try to add a bit of topspin for better control.
