How to add a top spin to the pendulum serve ?
thanks Alois
HI Abdo,
To get topspin you need to come upwards on the ball. In the pendulum swing, the bat is going up at the last part of the swing. That is when you need to make contact with the ball to get the topspin. Give it a try. We also have a lot more information and demonstrations in our lessons on Serving Secrets.
I think the topspin serve is the one that gives players the most difficulty to get the action right. It is worth persevering with it because you can get good effect with it.
If you can execute the Ma Lin serve you now need to work out when to use it to make it effective for your game.

Hit it later in the swing at the back of the ball with a brushing up action.

is it for all serves like tomahawk or the reverse pendulum and the back hand ?
Alois Rosario from PingSkills Posted 11 years ago
It si the same principle. We show this more clearly in our lessons on Serving Secrets.

but it's hard for the tomahawk? right?
Alois Rosario from PingSkills Posted 11 years ago
No it can be done for the Tomahawk serve as well. You can come more over the top of the ball and spinning it forward.

Hi,
It might look like that but at the point of contact my bat goes up to put the topspin on it.
