Strokes
Hello,
I've recently observed an agressive topspin attack against backspin by watching some world-class players and I would like to ask about its technicality. As far as I know it's more about hitting using a lot of acceleration from legs, hips than brushing contact but my question is if there is still some brushing?
Hi Dariusz,
It is about both creating a lot of acceleration from the legs, hips and body as well as relying on brushing the ball.
The brushing will help to lift the ball especially when it has more backspin. If you try to hit a heavy backspin ball without brushing the ball you will find the ball going into the net.

Ok, thanks for the answer. So the rule of thumb here is to always give some brush to a ball since it gives the safety over the net and reduces the margin error? So am I right that this agressive topspin against backspin (like chinese players do with their rubbers) is more about hitting by staying low, using legs and hips but also incorporating some brushing? :)
Yes that is right Dariusz.
