What is the best serve for doubles play?
Hi Dave,
The best type of serve for doubles play differs depending on your team’s strategy, your opponents’ strengths, and your playing level.
In general though a good serve in doubles is a short serve close tot he middle line of the table. As you are only serving to half a table, doing a long serve makes it too easy to attack by the receiver. Serving the ball close to the middle decreases the ablates that the receiver can use on the return.
