Hi guys,

I have few questions about rackets?

1. Is it better to use allround blade with thicker rubbers or OFF blade with thinner rubbers?

2: I have now Stiga infinity VPS V blade and stiga mantra 1,9mm medium FH and 1,9mm soft in BH. Another racket is Yasaka Sweden extra with FH Tibhar EL-S max and BH FX-P 1,9mm. Im quite confused witch one should I use and what is the reason why?

3. Should I only use one racket at a time? I mean it is quite difficult to compare those rackets and I dont know when to change it?

Best regrads,

Timo

Hi Timo,

I prefer a slower blade with a faster rubber. You tend to get the control from the speed of the blade and the spin from the rubber.

You should only use one racket however try both of them over a week or so and make a decision and then stay with it for at least 6 months.

Use the one that works best against strong opponents. A racket with a lot of speed, kick and spin can be a lot of fun to play with against weaker opponents who play rather slow and without much spin, while a more controlled racket will make you work harder for a less spectacular result. The flip side is that once you play someone who gives you fast and/or spiny balls and all of a sudden you can't make any decent serve return anymore, that won't be funny a all anymore and it will become an obstacle to your skills development.
