Hi there coach, I just wanted to ask if would ankle weights help me with my footwork? I am planning to get some ankle weights for footwork training, wherein I would wear theme every time I perform the training. And I need your advice coach, would this be a good idea?

Hi Wayne,

Ankle weights can help but you need to makes sure it doesn't effect technique.  You may be able to do it away from the table when you can concentrate on technique of moving.

I use ankle weights (1.15kg) whenever I train my footwork, mainly to improve my speed. When I began, it didn't affect my technique but certainly my speed and endurance. 8 months on, and my footwork is much faster and I don't fatigue as much. As long as you maintain technique, you will reap the benefits of improved speed and endurance. I often wear the weights during my everyday business, to adapt to the load over time.

thanks coach, but last question, would it be adequate to wear ankle weights while doing on the table footwork drills?

I would use it off table mainly.

what type of ankle weight you use ? as i don't know how to make my ankle feel heavy
